Since I started taking care of my parents, I had to educate myself about Social Security. Previously, all I knew was that it deducted from my paycheck. lol. When I saw people on social media worried about losing benefits if they didn't visit the office to confirm their identity, I admit I got concerned. I began figuring out how to bring my disabled mother and my father, who has Alzheimer's, to the office to verify their identities. Now you can understand what I had in mind.
The Social Security website states that not everyone is required to verify their identity. Regardless of what TV or social media might say, it's important to consult the source for information.
